Steve Allain Sensei is Rhode Island Ki Society’s lead instructor. He began his training in 1995 in St. Louis, Missouri with Mark Rubbert Sensei (5th dan). By 1997, Allain Sensei began teaching a regular weekly class at the St. Louis Ki Society. In October of 2001, he assisted Mark Rubbert Sensei with a pilot program at Edgewood Children’s Center, a residential treatment center for abused children. This program known as the WellChild Aikido Program was designed for St. Louis area children and youth subject to “at risk” factors. The program provides alternatives to violent behavior and teaches the children the power of calmness and relaxation and positive role modeling. Later, he also assisted with a similar program at the Neighborhood Houses of St. Louis.
Allain Sensei has had the opportunity to train with some of the top instructors from the US and Japan, including Shinichi Tohei Sensei (current Director of Ki Society International and son of the founder of Ki Aikido Koichi Tohei Sensei), Koichi Kashiwaya Sensei (Chief Instructor of Midland Ki Federation), Christopher Curtis Sensei (Chief Instructor of Hawaii Ki Federation), Jonathan Eley Sensei (Chief Instructor of Chicago Ki Society), and George Simcox Sensei (1933-2000) (Chief Instructor of Virginia Ki Society).
Steve Allain Sensei currently holds the rank of Sandan (3rd degree black belt) in Aikido from Ki Society International as well as Shoden (1st degree black belt) in Mind and Body Unification. He has also been given his Assistant Ki Lecturer teaching certification from Ki Society International in Japan.
