Focus On: Honor

The Martial Arts teaches us to honor our bodies with exercise on a daily basis to make our bodies strong.  This way, we may endure physically any challenges that arise.  The spirit we have is kept deep within our hearts. That is when you are compelled to do 20 more kicks when you do not feel you are physically able to do even one more.  Our spirit is what refuses to give up and overcomes fear or pain.  It is the fight for survival that is in all of us!  We will not fear our enemy when confronted, nor will we seek out our enemy either.  What having true honor means is we must develop a positive manner and avoid negative things that would reduce our mental or physical health.  We must never be abusive or offensive, but defend oneself upon an attack.  To be a true martial artist, we must have honor and respect for ourselves, as well as develop self-discipline to bring out the best in each other.

The martial arts combine the honor of your mind, body and soul to achieve mental, physical and spiritual fitness.  We must create goals and we must commit to our goals.  When we make that commitment, we must honor that commitment and follow through.  This will strengthen our minds and willpower.  We must be more confident that we can accomplish our goals.  So, never give up on your goals!
